Soccer Match with Woodstock School

On 1st of Oct.2012, Woodstock School Mussoorie visited our school for a friendly soccer match with our senior school soccer team. 

The visitors were in the school at 4:30 pm, the match started after a formal introduction of both the teams with our Principal and Administrator Maj. Kartikey Sharma.

GDGWS Trade Fair by IGCSE Students PDF Print E-mail
 
Students of IGCSE were asked to design exports to Germany/France using their economics and business knowledge. Their research work involved identification of a market for their products, potential competitors, competitive strategies, trade barriers, etc. A trade fair was subsequently organized in school premises on September 28, 2012 wherein the students had put up five stalls displaying their products beautifully.

The two days IB Primary Years Programme Workshop on ‘Assessment in PYP’ and ‘Inquiry in PYP’ were very much appreciated by all staff who attended the sessions. 

‘Assessment in PYP

The program, delivered by Shane Murphy, was meaningful for all teachers, whatever their role or experience within the Primary Years Program is.  Mr. Murphy combined meaningful activities with information and discussion. He helped the participants to get a feel for the role of Assessment for Learning within the Primary Years Program, encouraging all to be creative in their choice of assessment tools and strategies.

Streets at Gate No.7, Hall No 12 -12A,Pragati Maidan were full of art. From traditional watercolours to modern abstracts. front the conventionally beautiful to downright bizarre, the United Art Fair at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. had it all at Display. Some 2,000 works of art in various avatars like paintings, sculptors' installations. print-making and digital art were on display front the 28th.Sept to the 30th.Sept.2012. The exhibition hall had been divided on the basis of "streets" bearing household names like Raja Ravi Varma. Amrita Sher-Gil and Rabindranath Tagore.

Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations at GD Goenka World School PDF Print E-mail
 
The Gandhi Jayanti celebrations were held in school on the 1st of October 2012. The assembly began with the lighting of a lamp ,commemorating Gandhiji’s birthday. This was followed by a prayer by the school choir, in the form of an ode to the Father of our nation.

Three students from the IB diploma programme, namely: Shubham Yadav, Arshia Wadhwa and Dhruv Tikekar—took the audience through three stages of Gandhi’s life, through the use of presentations. The first stage was handled by Shubham, who focused on Gandhi’s childhood; the second, by Dhruv who focused on Gandhi’s life in South Africa, as well as his civil rights movement; and the last stage, which was handled by Arshia, focused on Gandhi’s life in India and his struggle for independence.

On 28th of September, 2012, talent show was held for the boarding students of GD Goenka. The show was named as “Goenka’sGotTalent, Season 1”. This was by far the best talent show with approximately 50% of the boarding students participating in it. The honorable judges were our very own principal Mrs. Neeta Bali, vice Principal Mrs. Neeru Sharma and respected sir Major Sharma.

Students of GD Goenka World School, IB year 1  visited the Panasonic Experience Centre and attended a workshop on Photography. As we entered the Panasonic staff clicked a group picture of all of us. We also saw the Green Zone, Home appliance zone, Beauty zone, Projector, and the Lumix Zone( Digital camera & photography).

An interactive workshop on Communication and Leadership Skills was conducted on 28/9/12  for the IBDP students.  The  purpose of the session was to enable the students to  identify the reasons behind their inhibitions and blocks in communication with their peers and elders.  The concept of “Symptomatic Awkwardness “ was explained to the students by the resource person to help them understand their hidden strengths and weaknesses which in turn would enhance  the unique personality traits inherent in each one of them. The “Mirror”  and  “So What” exercises  were motivational and the students not only enjoyed  them but also showed an active participation. Overall the workshop facilitated the students to explore their individual selves and develop leadership qualities. It was indeed a peek into recognizing the participant’s potential as leaders of the future!

It’s that time of the year again when we remind ourselves that we truly are a global society.

Learning a modern foreign language can be both educative and fun. And to showcase the linguistic talents of our students from PYP, IGCSE and IBDP and their understanding of the different European and other world cultures that they are learning through their language programmes, the department celebrated the Foreign Languages Week from the 20th to the 21st of September through a series of language assemblies.
