Walk-A-Thon & a Street Play at 'Raahgiri Day' Gurgaon PDF Print E-mail

G.D Goenka World School : On a pleasant spring morning of 15th February, the PYP Goenkans gathered proudly at DLF galleria as a part of their responsible initiative to save the endangered flora and fauna from extinction. To reach out to the masses and create awareness about the need to protect the plants and animals, grade 5 organised a WALKATHON on RAAHGIRI DAY, a concept conceptualized and implemented by PYP teachers and students as a part of ongoing exhibition unit, ‘Adaptation and Extinction.’


Students of grade 12 were taken to Jim corbett for a CAS trip. The trip was a combination of education and adventure. Student were engaged in wide variety of activities from trekking, river crossing and safari in jungle a visit to the temple and corbett museum. It was two night and three day trip. This trip was not only a test of skills of the students but also a chance for them to develop team spirit and cooperative skills.

Students of GD Goenka World School were bestowed with the responsibility of leading the primary school. The Investiture Ceremony for the 2014-15 was held at the school assembly hall. Principal Neeta Bali and PYP coordinator Pretty Khosla did the honours of Badging the new head girl.

Agra Trip 2014 PDF Print E-mail
27- 28 NOVEMBER, 2014

Students of Grade 3-5 went for an overnight trip to the magnificent city of Agra on 27th November, 2014. The fun began right from the time the students boarded the bus and carried on till the next day when the parents came to collect them. The singing and playing all the way to Agra on the bus showed students excitement and elation. The visit to the Taj Mahal- its history and beauty was sufficient to mesmerize the students and teachers alike. The stay at the Jaypee Palace was an adventure in itself- with magic show and dance party carrying on late into the night.

Educated in India and The United Kingdom, Derek Mountford chose a career in education on his return to New Delhi in 1996.

Prefaced by a first degree in History from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, and a Master’s from The School of Oriental and African Studies, London, Derek Mountford’s eighteen-year career spans association with Arun Kapur at The Vasant Valley School, John Mason at The Doon School, successive Secretaries of the HRD Ministry at The Lawrence School, Sanawar, and as Headmaster of The Assam Valley School, close ties with Gulab Ramchandani (former Head of Doon), Professor Ranjit Bhatia (Rhodes Scholar and former Professor of Mathematics at St. Stephen’s), Abha Adams (former Director of The Sri Ram School in Delhi and currently Principal Advisor to Step-by-Step School, Noida), Meera Isaacs (Principal, John Connon & Cathedral, Mumbai) and David Summerscale (former Headmaster, West minister School, London).

Students of grades 9- 12 whad the wonderful opportunity of interacting with Dr Ali AMIR KHAN from Medanta Hospital. A cardio- thoracic surgeon, Dr. Khan conducted an elaborate session, expatiating how smoking can be detrimental to health. He spoke at length about the harmful substances contained in cigarettes that can cause irreparable damage to young lives
Investiture Ceremony 2014 PDF Print E-mail
A grand and impressive investiture ceremony at G D Goenka World School on November 27, 2014, saw senior student leaders being invested with badges and authority . The ceremony commenced with ceremonial march –in by student leaders , who escorted the Executive Director, Mr Derek Mountford and Principal, Dr Neeta Bali. While badges were conferred on house captains by respective house in-charges, the Principal pinned the badges for the core council.The Students who qualified for Duke Of Edinburgh awards were also acknowledged on the occasion
PYP Student Led Conference (SLC) PDF Print E-mail
On November 21, 2014 the PYP wing housing grades Nursery to five bustled with the excitement of hosting the “Student Led Conference”. The purpose of the conference was to have each student lead their parents through their classroom and other centers of school activities, and talk to them in detail about their learning throughout the year. The classrooms were prepared with the help of PYP teachers and students themselves, and showcased board displays, models, games, activities, and samples of student submissions.

Ananya Pawar, IB-DP student recently performed at the Yamaha Battle of Bands , where she represented GDGWS. She was acclaimed for her stupendous performance by the judges and organizers alike for her exceptional performance .Ananya is an accomplished vocalist and guitarist , having honed her skills at Berklee college.

Children not just make us happier, they bring an increased sense of meaning into people’s lives. To spread the joy of the spirit of children’s day, G.D. Goenka World School celebrates children’s day every year.

This year Children's Day Carnival was spread over two days- For upper Primary on 13th November 2014 and for Lower Primary on 14th November 2014. The Upper Primary children were randomly split into groups with their energetic teachers as their mentors for the, bridge bowling, blind kick, caterpillar race, Frisbee in the hoopla etc.

Swach Bharat Abhiyan PDF Print E-mail
On the 17th of October 2014, inspired by the swach bharat abhiyan carried out by our prime minister, our young and vivacious goenkans cleaned up on the goenkan aisle as well!

The middle years programme children carried this initiative out in the school premises with utmost dedication and enthusiasm. About 95 excited young minds came together to personally get up and clean the school. The activity was more than an activity , it was a movement and it was an idea. The idea that was understood after the task had been carried out. The sight of a clean and beautiful school after the clean drive, helped students and other goenkans that to be something to be beautiful the initiative has to be taken by us.
